What did the first five weeks of the Joshua Program at St. Dunstan’s Academy look like?

Lots of prayer, preaching, singing, worship, Bible study — and a whole lot of building.

But also:

  • Slaughtering and butchering 65 chickens.
  • Introduction to timber management: tree identification, felling, and milling.
  • Hearing a world-class ensemble perform Bach Cantatas.
  • Lessons in singing and plainchant from top-notch instructors.
  • Hiking, camping, fire-building.
  • Guest preaching from a renowned Anglican theologian.
  • A service trip to Camp Deerfoot Blue Ridge to help raise the timber frame for their chapel.

As well as vocations talks from:

  • The inventor of podcasting — the great and inimitable Ken Myers of Mars Hill Audio Journal.
  • A journeyman electrician who eventually built his own multi-national electrical company when he found that he could no longer stomach unethical practices in his industry.
  • A nurse, arborist, farmer, & builder (one man).
  • A software engineer, timber framer, and dairy farmer (one man).
  • An Anglican deacon who is also a retired Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force.
  • A former U.S. Army Green Beret now leading Camp Deerfoot Blue Ridge.
